Robert McGuire, shortly after receiving his BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, moved to Japan to continue his studies. Among other things, he studied the Japanese language, in which he is now fluent. Robert is an award-winning artist whose work has been shown across the country, including The Museum of The Society of Illustrators in New York City.

In 2010, he was the recipient of the Evelyn Thurman Young Readers Award for his illustrations for the book The Last Black King of the Kentucky Derby. Robert has spent many years as a painter and illustrator in both the US and Japan. He presently resides on the island of Oahu with his wife and two sons.

His paintings are currently represented by Signature Gallery Waikiki, Honolulu, HI.
